Dear Parents & Carers,

I hope you are well during what we know is a highly anxious time. You are aware that to reduce the transmission of Covid 19 the Scottish Government made a nation wide decision to close schools for the majority of children and provide a remote learning offer. As a school we have a duty to provide you with learning from home. From the feedback of teaching staff it is apparent that some of you are finding it increasingly difficult to work with your child whilst keeping to your employment commitments. I have every sympathy and really wish that I was able to help and offer more places within the school however the criteria for these places remain

1) 2 Key worker parents not working from home
2) Vulnerable children (known to social work department)

We have been asked for many surveys and returns which I interpret to mean that they are looking for a way forward for the ASN sector. I know we would all welcome this.
In the meantime myself and Ann are happy to take calls from any parent at any time. I will make myself available for contact on Fridays. I will clear my diary and ensure that if you call and I am on another call, you will receive a call back. We have just produced a remote learning policy which states the offer we have made for learning from home. This will be live on our website and school app from next week.
In summary your first contact is with the class teacher. If parents/pupils are not engaging with Google Classroom teachers will make contact with you through email Google Chat. If there is still no engagement you will receive a call from the class teacher. A letter, text or email will then come from myself or Ann (DHT) and finally a phone call.

Although these are our guidelines I hope you all realise that we are here for you to offer advice and support at all times.

Please find attached a letter and application for Critical Key Worker Parents involved in directly supporting covid 19 response to be considered for a hub placement during the February break

Best Regards

Maria Neil
