Dear Parents/Carers,

We are delighted to officially announce that Greenburn School have been named finalists in the Scottish Education Awards 2023 as published in the Daily Record (https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/special-features/educators-top-class-scotland-revealed-29689543 or a paper copy can be made available from the school).

This is a prestigious award for any school, and so we were honoured to have been nominated by our Quality Improvement Officer Karen Reilly who visits the school regularly. Karen is continually impressed by our staff's skills, experience, and engagement with the children - and of course the wonderful pupils themselves.  Karen felt that the school was deserving of a nomination for the 'Making a Difference' award.

I am grateful for many of your testimonies which we felt had to be included alongside our school presentation for the award.

Last Monday, the Senior Leadership Team and Karen Reilly were joined by; Speech & Language therapist Belinda Kane, Senior Physiotherapist Karen McAuley, Active Schools Coordinator Craig Allerdyce, and Parental Representative, Michelle Howe, to give a presentation on the criteria for this Award. It was an amazing day for us as we were so proud to share with the judges the many experiences, activities and developments that make a difference to our pupils and their families every day.

All that remains now is for the school to be represented at an award ceremony on the 7th June, when the Scottish Education 'Making A Difference' Awards 2023 will be announced.

This could be seen as clichéd, but I am truly elated to have come this far. It is a wonderful accolade for the school to be recognised for the great work that we do.

Many thanks to you all for your continuous support of the school, and a special thank you to the individuals that represented our school to the judging panel so articulately.

Best Regards,
Maria Neil
